Industrial Railcar Repair Specialist Opportunity

Aerotek is currently seeking an experienced Industrial Railcar Repair Specialist to join our team. This position involves performing mechanical and welding work to repair rail cars.

About the Role:
  • This role requires 60% mechanical work and 40% welding, with a preference for fluxcore welding but training is available for MIG welders.
  • The successful candidate will be required to work in dirty conditions and perform physical exertion.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure all railcar repairs and maintenance are completed safely and efficiently.
  2. Interpret job work orders and follow blueprints/schematics to perform required repairs.
  3. Utilize basic mechanical skills and build knowledge of machines and tools to weld, cut, and gouge.
  4. Notify management of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks.
  5. Follow all safety rules, keep the work area clean, and comply with Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
  6. Ensure FRA, AAR, and customer quality standards are met.
  7. Perform any other duties as assigned to complete the task.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to weld.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, air tools, and mechanical assembly.
  • Experience with fluxcore welding preferred.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, work in hot and cold environments, and lift repetitively throughout the day.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with mechanical work or railcar work.

Work Environment:

This role requires working in various weather conditions. The environment can be very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. It is a dirty and heavy industrial setting.
