Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Railcar Repairman to perform mechanical and welding work to repair rail cars. This role involves 60% mechanical work and 40% welding. While fluxcore welding is preferred, training for MIG welders is available. This position requires physical exertion and involves working in dirty conditions.

Responsibilities

• Works safely around heavy equipment, railcars, and railroad tracks.
• Coordinates and completes all railcar repairs and maintenance.
• Interprets job work orders and follows blueprints/schematics to perform required repairs.
• Utilizes basic mechanical skills and builds knowledge of machines and tools to weld, cut, and gouge.
• Notifies of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks.
• Follows all safety rules, keeps work area clean, and complies with all Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
• Ensures FRA, AAR, and customer quality standards are met.
• Completes any other duties as assigned to complete the task.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to weld.
• Knowledge of hand tools, air tools, and mechanical assembly.
• Experience with fluxcore welding preferred.
• Ability to stand for long periods, work in hot and cold environments, and lift repetitively throughout the day.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with mechanical work or railcar work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with torch cutting, grinding, air tools, hand tools, and fabrication.
• Ability to take and pass a fluxcore weld test.

Work Environment

This role requires working in all weather conditions. The environment can be very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. It is a dirty and heavy industrial setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00
