Parking Enforcement Officer

About the Role:

JMU Parking and Transit Services is seeking students for part-time employment in its enforcement and special events programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol campus and issue citations to vehicles parked in violation of JMU's parking regulations.
  • Participate in parking operations for campus special events.
  • Assist visitors with directions and general campus information.

Requirements:

  • Comfortable interacting with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Capable of working efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Able to work outdoors, on foot, in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work alone, or to divide responsibilities with a partner or team.

Working Conditions:

Students set their own schedule in 2 hours increments, with the exception of occasional mandatory special events.

As a condition of employment, students are expected to return to campus early to assist in move-in operations, and to remain on campus at the end of the academic year to work move-out and graduation.

Regular hours are available from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday.

Eligibility:

  • Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
  • Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
