Tax and Accounting Director

This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and directing Compeer Financial's tax and accounting program. The incumbent will provide strategic direction regarding product and service delivery in alignment with Compeer Financial's business growth and profitability targets.
Essential Functions- Define the tax and accounting team's strategic direction and goals.
- Ensure talent recruitment, retention, and development to achieve defined business objectives.
- Directly lead and develop the tax and accounting management team.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other senior leaders in operations, human resources, finance, legal, and compliance, marketing, and business technology to optimize business unit performance.
- Provide timely communication around Compeer Financial and tax and accounting, including team priorities, metrics, and accountability, results, and recognition.
- Ensure sufficient technical expertise within the business unit and individual roles to deliver tax and accounting expertise to agricultural clients and producers in a differentiated manner.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, agribusiness, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting, finance, insurance, or business management.
- Five to seven years of leadership and management experience preferred.
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state (Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) laws, regulations, and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry and Farm Credit.
- Focus on marketing and sales with emphasis on business growth.

- Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

- Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and customer relationship management (CRM) programs.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals and represent the business.
- Valid driver's license.
