Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse at Ellis Medicine, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in our acute care setting. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing and treating patient responses to actual or potential health problems, while coordinating care with other disciplines and delegating tasks to other nursing personnel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments using subjective and objective data sources.
• Establish nursing diagnoses based on evaluation of assessment data and prioritize patient needs.
• Develop individualized patient care plans (PCPs) based on patient assessment, using nursing practice standards and protocols, realistic measurable outcomes/goals, and timeframes for goal achievement.
• Deliver patient care as outlined in the PCP and patient response to interventions.
• Assign patient care tasks to and observe care given by non-RN staff members.
• Evaluate patient care and assess the level and timeliness of outcome achievement, utilizing input from pertinent members of the healthcare team, including patient/family.
• Communicate the patient's plan of care to all members of the healthcare team and include the medical record.
• Organize and communicate nursing care assignments/tasks/responsibilities based upon patient acuity/need and staff education/skill/job description.
• Assess patient teaching needs as part of the initial and ongoing assessment, set goals, and develop teaching plans consistent with the patient's educational level, learning readiness, and age.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement and/or coordinate the teaching plan, focusing on wellness, health maintenance, and restoration.
• Provide a safe environment based upon patient condition and age.
• Assume responsibility for education and self-development.
• Participate in nursing performance improvement and interdisciplinary research and study activities as required.
• Adhere to institutional policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited RN program required.
• Current licensure in NYS or eligibility for limited permit to practice required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; candidates without a BSN will be required to start a program within 2 years of hire and complete by year 6 of employment.
• A minimum of 1 year of acute care experience preferred.
• Current BLS required.
• Current certification in ACLS, PALS, and NRP may be required depending on unit scope.
• Board Certification preferred.

Salary Range

$36-$51/hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
