At Saint Mary\u2019s University, we are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused individual to join our Library Services team as an Evening Associate. This role is responsible for supporting the Library Access Services Manager in managing library access services, including circulation, reserves, and interlibrary loan (ILL). The successful candidate will also assist in the oversight of a team of student workers who ensure the Winona Library is open and available for student, faculty, and staff use during all evening and weekend hours that the library is open.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Close and secure the library during weekday evenings and open and close the library during weekend shifts, preparing it for the next day\u2019s services.
  • Answer the circulation desk phone, routing calls to librarians and library staff as needed.
  • Provide initial patron assistance for library directional questions, location of specific items, and library policies/procedures.
  • Provide basic reference assistance, making referrals as needed to the librarians.
  • Use the integrated library system (ILS) to check in and out library materials.
  • Assist library users with technologies.
  • Assist the Library Access Services Manager with the management of student employees.
  • Assist with library stack maintenance.
  • Assist with physical processing of library materials.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2-year post-secondary education or equivalent education or experience.

Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a library, preferably in an academic setting.
