Job Title: Traffic Control Maintenance Technician II

Join the City of Fulshear, TX team as a Traffic Control Maintenance Technician II and contribute to the maintenance of traffic control devices on City streets and right of ways.

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the City Engineer, this position performs semi-skilled and skilled level work in the maintenance of traffic control devices. The successful candidate will be responsible for the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of city traffic signs and pavement markings, as well as deploying School zone Flasher Units, Speed Monitoring Radar system, traffic counters, and Changeable Message Boards as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains traffic control signage
  • Assists with the installation of repairs, and maintenance of raised and non-raised pavement markings
  • Troubleshoots traffic signal malfunctions; repairs, and replaces equipment in signal cabinets
  • Assists in inspection and completion of traffic signal construction projects within the City
  • Reads and interprets plans, schematics, product safety data sheets, and the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD)
  • Inspects work zones for compliance with TMUTCD
  • Inspects traffic control signage, pavement markings, and permanent barricades
  • Fabricates traffic control signs
  • Manages traffic-related contracts and inspects contractors' work product
  • Plans and promotes traffic-related safety courses
  • Responds to public inquiries/complaints regarding traffic control devices in a courteous manner; provides information; resolves complaints in an efficient and timely manner
  • Assists with the placement of traffic counters for traffic control studies
  • Assists with the gathering of Traffic sign data for City asset management program
  • Tracks inventory of materials and equipment
  • Drives to various locations in the course and scope of daily job duties
  • Subject to on-call assignments
  • This position is Essential. During an emergency, this position may be required to provide services or perform duties for the benefit of the general public and continuity of city operations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of this position
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Three (3) years of technical experience in the maintenance of Traffic Signal Systems preferred
  • Valid State of Texas Driver License
  • Signs & Pavement Markings Technician Level II or obtain
  • Work Zone Safety Certification (FHWA approved)
  • Must pass a pre-employment screening
