Optum Pharmacy Director Job Description

At Optum, we're dedicated to delivering care and improving health outcomes for millions of people worldwide. As a Director of Pharmacy, you'll play a critical role in leading our pharmacy team to achieve this mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to ensure efficient prescription fulfillment.
  • Monitor and analyze pharmacy operations, providing guidance and direction to team members as needed.
  • Prioritize and coordinate work, ensuring effective leadership and review of staff performance.
  • Develop and maintain effective scheduling of staff to meet business unit needs and goals.
  • Optimize standardized procedures and improve efficiency within the team.
  • Prepare and analyze reports for management on various topics as needed.
  • Interview, hire, and train new employees, conduct performance reviews, and provide counseling and disciplinary action as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or PharmD degree.
  • Current, unrestricted Ohio Pharmacist License.
  • Ability to obtain additional state licensure(s) as required.
  • 3+ years of active pharmacist experience.
  • 1+ years of experience leading, overseeing, or supervising pharmacy staff.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pharmacy automation experience.
  • 2+ years of home infusion experience.
  • CPR+ pharmacy dispensing platform.
  • Solid analytics and planning capabilities.
