Role Summary

The Senior Accountant will be pivotal in ensuring the financial integrity of our organization. This role involves overseeing and evaluating all financial aspects related to our programs and operations, particularly during a phase of significant expansion. Your financial acumen will be crucial in guiding our profitability and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and uphold the cost accounting framework, including necessary documentation and records.
  • Evaluate and report on cost discrepancies, identifying underlying issues and suggesting corrective measures.
  • Assist in determining the costs associated with current initiatives, ensuring accurate financial representation.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather and assess data for budget formulation.
  • Generate comprehensive budget reports, pinpointing variances and recommending adjustments.
  • Conduct ongoing analyses of process constraints and provide insights on profit margins and monthly financial closures.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for internal controls related to cost accounting, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Analyze financial metrics to uncover trends, conduct cost-benefit assessments, and propose cost-reduction strategies.
  • Lead financial forecasting and planning efforts for future expenditures.
  • Stay informed about industry developments and regulatory changes that may affect cost accounting methodologies.
  • Perform additional tasks as required to support the finance team and overall organizational goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, ideally within the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles and cost accounting standards.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • CPA or CMA certification is advantageous.
Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to partner locations as needed.

Physical Requirements

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee is expected to sit, use their hands, and communicate effectively. The role may involve lifting and moving items, and reliable transportation is necessary.
