Purpose

The Water Resources Manager acts as the leader and overseer of their division, holding ultimate accountability for both the cultural and financial achievements of the team. This role involves establishing team objectives, assigning responsibilities, onboarding new personnel, and overseeing daily operations. Their leadership is pivotal in ensuring that all team goals are successfully attained. Typical responsibilities of the Water Resources Manager include supervising team members, organizing work schedules, leading meetings, monitoring key performance indicators, managing client relationships, identifying and generating business opportunities, and providing mentorship as necessary. Additionally, they collaborate with their Vice President to assess shared resource support. The Water Resources Manager possesses a diverse background with a proven track record of advancing management responsibilities. They demonstrate expertise in motivating their team, developing and executing strategies for client and business growth that enhance revenue and profit margins, and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.

Operations/Management

  • Act as the primary representative of their service lines at conferences, trade associations, and community events.
  • Ensure successful project delivery for their division.
  • Oversee the planning and allocation of discipline-specific tasks, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Guarantee the completeness and accuracy of the team's work while upholding quality assurance standards across all projects.
  • Monitor and assess the financial performance and targets of the unit.
  • Lead, manage, and maintain accountability for all employees within their division.
  • Evaluate unit performance and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Provide input on recruitment, hiring, development, and retention strategies, including performance reviews and succession planning.
  • Identify staffing requirements and actively engage in the recruitment process.

Professional Development

  • Engage in both internal and external management and leadership training.
  • Mentor and empower team members by demonstrating high levels of engagement and integrity.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration within the unit, encouraging employees to adopt a unified mindset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related Water Engineering field is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience is required; 10+ years is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in the relevant discipline for the unit.
  • Experience with local government regulations related to design criteria and permitting.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and design skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Willingness to travel to various project sites.
  • Capability to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
