Transportation Operations Manager

US Foods, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Manager to lead our Transportation department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient transportation of goods, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and developing and implementing strategies to improve operational performance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead with a safety-first mindset, ensuring the well-being of US Foods associates, customers, and the general public.
- Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational performance, including process improvements and cost reductions.
- Collaborate with Sr. Transportation Managers to discuss performance and create plans to address gaps.
- Build high-performing teams by participating in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel.
- Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
- Investigate accidents, maintain accident files, and take preventative action.
- Effectively schedule working shifts using planning tools.
- Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution.
- Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce.
- Experience as a driver a plus.
- Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
- Strong understanding of DOT requirements and familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
This role may require significant travel, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training. The successful candidate will be able to perform the physical activities required for the job, including standing, walking, driving, and lifting.
