POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of Nursing Leadership, the LPN Care Team Supervisor ensures that Medical Assistants operate within their professional scope while upholding the highest standards of patient care and documentation. This role exemplifies professionalism and ethical practices, serving as a mentor to all team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Adhere to and promote established organizational policies and procedures.
2. Provide health education to patients, families, and team members as necessary.
3. Assist in the orientation and training of Medical Assistants and other healthcare personnel.
4. Ensure that Electronic Health Record (EHR) tasks are completed efficiently by Medical Assistants.
5. Carry out clinical duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
6. Document patient data accurately in the electronic health record system.
7. Facilitate care team huddles to enhance communication, focus on quality metrics, and address care gaps.
8. Train and supervise clinical staff to ensure competency in patient care activities and adherence to assigned responsibilities.
9. Oversee the completion of the Medical Assistant competency checklist and mandatory training requirements.
10. Provide coaching and mentorship to the Medical Assistant team.
11. Monitor task orders and ensure efficient tracking processes.
12. Maintain laboratory standards in compliance with accreditation requirements, overseeing quality control measures.
13. Manage vaccine inventory, including monitoring refrigerator temperatures and maintaining logs.
14. Conduct medication stock assessments and order supplies as needed.
15. Perform regular performance evaluations, incorporating feedback and chart audits.
16. Provide direct patient care as required, including scheduling and conducting nurse visits.
17. Collaborate closely with the Office Manager through joint meetings and project initiatives.
18. Monitor patient portal interactions and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
SUPERVISORY ROLE:
Responsible for overseeing Medical Assistants, students, and volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in nursing processes and critical thinking.
- Strong delegation and preceptor skills.
- Ability to navigate and input data into EHR systems.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Legible handwriting is essential.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
- Minimum of one year of experience as an LPN in a healthcare environment, with some supervisory experience preferred.
- More than two years of supervisory experience in a health center setting is advantageous.
CERTIFICATION:
- Must possess an active and unencumbered LPN License in the State of Florida.
- Current CPR Certification is required.
