POSITION OVERVIEW

Are you passionate about assisting individuals in need during the cold winter season? The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is in search of dedicated Seasonal Energy Support Specialists for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Helpline. This role offers a unique opportunity to positively influence the lives of community members by ensuring they remain warm and secure during challenging times.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Seasonal Energy Support Specialist, you will utilize your excellent communication abilities to evaluate information and accurately implement policies and procedures to assess eligibility for LIHEAP benefits. Working within a call center environment, you will manage inquiries via phone and email, interacting with applicants with both compassion and professionalism, especially those experiencing difficult situations. You will also assist callers in navigating the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Access to Social Services (COMPASS) website or mobile application. Additionally, your role will involve frequent use of computer systems while engaging with clients and personnel from the Department of Human Services. A significant part of your responsibilities will be to connect individuals with supplementary community resources that may enhance their LIHEAP benefits.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time seasonal employment, totaling 37.5 hours per week. Seasonal work typically spans from October to April, with potential for earlier start dates and extended duration.
  • Standard work hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, including a 60-minute lunch break, subject to operational requirements.
  • Telework Options: After completing a 6-month probationary period, there may be opportunities for full-time telework, requiring a secure high-speed internet connection and an approved work location within Pennsylvania.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Experience and Training:

  • Two years of experience in general office work, including public interaction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must meet the residency requirements of Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions is required.
