About the Role

The Senior Associate, Chemistry is a key position within our North America Pest Control Business Unit. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced chemist to lead the development of innovative formulations for our insecticide products. In this role, you will be responsible for driving growth and leading new breakthroughs in the field of chemistry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and formulate new products and line extensions that meet the growing demands of the North American insecticide market.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality and safety of our products.

  • Conduct performance testing and draft technical bridging rationale to support claims.

  • Optimize formulation ingredients to manage costs and availability.

  • Monitor stability testing and maintain records in compliance with good laboratory practices.

  • Prepare samples and track documentation for stability, micro-challenge, toxicological, clinical, and performance testing.

  • Meet with chemical suppliers to stay informed about new raw materials and potential second sourcing opportunities.

  • Review trade publications and industry news sources for raw material information, regulatory updates, and educational opportunities.

  • Investigate new raw materials and technologies through laboratory experimentation and suggest applications.

  • Generate data, analyze data, and draw conclusions to make recommendations on the suitability of formulations for various applications.

  • Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of sales samples as needed for photography, trade shows, etc.

  • Adhere to and communicate project milestones and launch time deadlines.

  • Input data requirements in SAP with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Be present for pilot batches and first production runs as necessary.

  • Work closely with cross-functional team members to ensure quality scale-up of laboratory formulas to pilot plant and full production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related science, and a minimum of 4 years of experience in the consumer products industry, or a master's degree with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Experiences and Skills

  • Possess an understanding of regulatory processes, such as EPA registration experience or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of the product development process and experience related to various formulation and delivery system technologies.

  • Understanding of the functional properties and environmental impact of ingredients.

  • Provide innovative ideas and knowledge with a high degree of integrity, speed, and a results-oriented approach.

  • Explore new technologies and materials, which may have application for product lines, and ability to design experiments to evaluate the performance attributes of products.

  • Scientific curiosity and the ability to solve technical problems related to formulation and manufacturing.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate accurately and concisely to multiple levels within the company.

  • Proficient computer skills, with the ability to become competent in the use of PLM (SAP-based product management system).
