Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will:

  • Float between various units, including short stay and recovery, while participating in a call rotation to ensure continuous care for post-operative patients.
  • Maintain professional expertise through ongoing education, networking, and participation in relevant professional organizations.
  • Ensure quality care by adhering to established therapeutic standards and making necessary adjustments based on patient outcomes.
  • Uphold patient and employee safety by following infection control protocols and medication administration guidelines.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately to maintain comprehensive records.
  • Establish rapport with patients to identify their care needs and provide emotional and psychological support.
  • Promote patient independence by setting care goals and educating patients and families about their conditions and self-care practices.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment by adhering to all relevant procedures and regulations.
  • Contribute to team efforts by participating in quality improvement initiatives and problem-solving activities.
Specialized DutiesShort Stay Unit Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive patient care by recognizing age-specific needs during assessments and education.
  • Provide necessary information to patients and families regarding procedures.
  • Initiate and manage the discharge process in accordance with physician orders.
  • Administer blood transfusions following established protocols.
  • Assist healthcare professionals during procedures while adhering to licensing regulations.
Recovery Room Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational processes tailored to patient and family needs in the recovery phase.
  • Ensure continuity of care by reviewing postoperative orders and coordinating with receiving units.
  • Stay updated on new procedures and treatments relevant to postoperative care.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Preferred: A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and one year of critical care or PACU experience.
Licensure and Certifications

Required certifications include:

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the relevant state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, to be completed within one year of hire.
