Healthcare Instructional Assistant

As a Healthcare Instructional Assistant at Stafford County Public Schools, you will play a vital role in providing instructional support to health occupations classes. Reporting directly to the Building Administrator and working under the direction of one or more teachers, your primary responsibility will be to supervise students as directed by the teacher(s) to ensure safety and learning.
Main Job Responsibilities- Assist health occupations teachers with supervising students during classroom activities, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher for individual students.
- Work closely with students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher, providing additional support as needed.
- Contribute to documentation and clerical functions, assisting teachers with administrative tasks.
- Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work in collaboration with the teacher.
- Support students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, and instructional activities, maintaining a reasonable level of supervision.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in a school environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and staff.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Knowledge of basic health care practices, medication administration, and safety issues related to current nursing practice.
- Familiarity with special education processes, including IEPs.
