About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Technician to join our team at Serra Traverse City. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex diesel engine issues, ensuring our customers' vehicles are returned to them in excellent working condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic and Repair Work: Perform thorough inspections and diagnose issues with diesel engines, transmissions, and other related systems.
  • Warranty Claims: Prepare and submit warranty claims to the factory and/or distributor, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Collaborate with the parts department to obtain necessary parts, and communicate effectively with service advisors to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Quality Control: Inspect and test vehicles to ensure all work is completed to the highest standards, and document all work performed.
  • Training and Development: Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills; ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before customers or employees; experience using general office equipment; ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods; ability to multitask; professional, well-groomed personal appearance.
