Court Security Officer

We are seeking a skilled Court Security Officer to join our team in the Justice Hall. As a part of this role, you will be responsible for maintaining order and security within the courtrooms while ensuring the safety and security of participants.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent listening skills, ability to work independently, and strong communication skills. You will also be required to operate metal detectors, answer questions, and interpret policies and procedures for judges, law enforcement officials, attorneys, and the public.
In addition to these responsibilities, you will be expected to maintain secure work areas for support staff, conduct inspections of court facilities, and operate various equipment such as handcuffs and semi-automatic pistols. If you have experience as a certified or previously certified City, County, or State Police law enforcement officer, we encourage you to apply.
This is an on-call position with no guarantee of hours. The successful candidate will require regular and consistent availability and must be able to communicate effectively both in written and oral forms. They will also need to relate to and deal with aggressive or emotionally disturbed individuals, make decisions independently in accordance with established policies and procedures, and use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities.
Physical demands of this role include standing for long periods, walking, bending, gripping hands and fingers, hearing alarms and voice conversation, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 14 pounds. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment chemical detection screen and satisfactory results of a post-offer audiological exam.
