Position Overview
This role is fully remote and involves working with the van den Heever research team, which focuses on cloud processes, particularly the microphysical and dynamical characteristics of deep convective cloud systems. The team utilizes numerical models to achieve scientific objectives, including the open-source Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (RAMS) and the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will support the INCUS mission by designing, executing, and analyzing a comprehensive suite of high-resolution numerical model simulations. These simulations are crucial for the development and validation of satellite remote sensing algorithms and products.

This position will also explore scientific inquiries related to convective cloud processes and their representation in models and observations.

Required Qualifications
- PhD in Atmospheric Sciences or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral experience or equivalent in high-resolution simulations of convective processes.
- Proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- In-depth knowledge of the dynamical and microphysical processes of deep convective clouds.

Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with RAMS and WRF models.
- Familiarity with cloud object tracking tools.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MatLab and/or Python.
- Experience utilizing NASA High End Computing (HEC) systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research focusing on the dynamical and microphysical processes influencing deep convective storms in tropical regions.
- Investigate research methodologies relevant to the INCUS science objectives, particularly regarding convective environment and anvil relationships.
- Evaluate the representation of dynamical and microphysical processes across various cloud models.

Research Dissemination
- Regularly publish research findings in appropriate peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Present research outcomes at relevant scientific conferences and workshops.

High-Resolution Cloud Model Simulation Database
- Design, execute, and assess numerous RAMS and WRF model simulations to create a high-resolution cloud model database for the development, training, and testing of INCUS algorithms and products.
