About the Position

At Hmong College Prep Academy, we are seeking an experienced Academic Professional in High School English Education to join our dedicated team of educators. This full-time position offers a competitive salary and opportunities for professional growth and development.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and passionate teacher who can deliver engaging lessons, foster a love of learning, and promote academic excellence in high school students. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to adapt to diverse student needs, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • To instruct high school students in core curriculum areas, including reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science.
  • To create a flexible classroom environment that is conducive to learning and personal growth.
  • To develop and implement lesson plans that meet district and school goals and objectives.
  • To assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • To maintain accurate records, including attendance, grades, and assessments.
  • To participate in professional development meetings, share best practices, and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional methods.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A current Minnesota teaching license in elementary education or a related field.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an urban setting.
  • Strong skills in classroom presentation and management.
  • Knowledge of instructional technologies and ability to utilize computer and multimedia tools effectively.
  • A strong preference for candidates trained in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) or those with experience in structured literacy and systematic, explicit instruction based on the science of reading.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
