Senior Sports Instructor - Nationwide

Working Hours: 07:30-17:30, Monday to Friday (Total hours will not exceed 45 hours per week)

Compensation: £681.39 weekly salary based on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size.

Reporting To: Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office. Barracudas is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young individuals, expecting all staff to share this commitment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SENIOR SPORTS INSTRUCTOR

  • Facilitate and oversee Induction Training and prepare for Set-Up days prior to Camp.
  • Complete necessary documentation and manage high-risk activities in line with Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice.
  • Implement Health and Safety protocols to maintain a secure environment.
  • Design a diverse schedule for Camp that includes suitable activities for various age groups and the use of all equipment.
  • Manage the Early and Late Club sessions, ensuring appropriate staffing and activity scheduling.
  • Maintain regular communication with Area Managers and Central Office.
  • Utilize your sports expertise to guide staff in delivery techniques, ensuring safety for both children and staff, while enhancing activities with suitable equipment.
  • Demonstrate new activities to General Staff members to boost their confidence in execution.
  • Schedule Skill Builders courses and ensure adherence to the outlined content.
  • Oversee documentation with Specialist Instructors: Multi-Activity, Fencing+, and Lifeguards.
  • Engage with parents and guardians on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the site and Baserooms are kept organized, with all equipment stored properly.
  • Evaluate and review staff performance for end-of-season assessments.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Attendance at mandatory Senior Training events is required.
  • Experience in sports, coaching (preferably with children), and/or team leadership.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Possession of an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Participation in and delivery of Induction Training Day(s) prior to camp opening.
  • Barracudas Multi Activity qualification is preferred.
  • Completion of annual Online Training is required.
  • Coordination of end-of-camp pack-up activities.
  • At least half of the senior staff should be Paediatric First Aid trained, varying with camp size.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Adhere to Health and Safety responsibilities by following established procedures and safe systems as outlined in manuals and training.
  • Approach safety issues proactively and diligently.
  • Prepare for Induction training using relevant manuals.
  • Conduct staff evaluations for each team member at the conclusion of their contract.
  • Report any Child Protection concerns to a designated person at Central Office.
  • Ensure staff are informed of any children with additional, medical, or dietary needs and assist with necessary adjustments.
  • Administer required medication accurately following EI forms and complete the necessary documentation.
  • Bring swimwear daily as it may be needed for swimming sessions.
  • The SSI role will depend on the number of children attending camp. The SSI will be included in the ratio if numbers do not exceed set criteria.
