Senior Sports Instructor - Nationwide

Working Hours: 07:30-17:30, Monday to Friday (Total hours will not exceed 45 hours per week)

Compensation: £681.39 weekly salary based on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size.

Reporting Structure: Reports to Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office. Barracudas is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals, and we expect all personnel to uphold this commitment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SENIOR SPORTS INSTRUCTOR

  • Facilitate and oversee Induction Training and prepare for Camp Set-Up days.
  • Complete necessary documentation and manage high-risk activities according to Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice.
  • Implement Health and Safety protocols to maintain a secure environment.
  • Design a diverse schedule for Camp that includes suitable activities for various age groups and utilizes all available equipment.
  • Manage the Early and Late Club sessions, ensuring proper staffing and activity scheduling.
  • Maintain regular communication with Area Managers and Central Office.
  • Utilize your sports expertise to guide staff in effective delivery techniques, ensuring safety for both children and staff, while enhancing activities with appropriate equipment.
  • Demonstrate new activities to General Staff to boost their confidence in execution.
  • Organize Skill Builders courses and ensure adherence to the outlined content.
  • Supervise documentation with Specialist Instructors: Multi-Activity, Fencing+, and Lifeguards.
  • Engage with parents and guardians on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the site and Baserooms are kept organized, with all equipment stored properly.
  • Evaluate and review staff performance for end-of-season assessments.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Attendance at mandatory Senior Training events.
  • Experience in sports and coaching, preferably with children, and/or team leadership experience.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Possession of an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Participation in and delivery of Induction Training Day(s).
  • Barracudas Multi Activity qualification is preferred.
  • Completion of annual Online Training.
  • Coordination of end-of-camp pack-up.
  • At least half of the senior staff should be Paediatric First Aid trained, depending on camp size.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Adhere to Health and Safety obligations by following established procedures and systems.
  • Proactively address safety concerns.
  • Prepare for Induction training using relevant manuals.
  • Conduct staff evaluations at the conclusion of their contracts.
  • Report any Child Protection issues to a designated person at Central Office.
  • Ensure staff are informed about children with additional, medical, or dietary needs.
  • Administer necessary medication as per EI forms and complete the required documentation.
  • Bring swimwear daily as it may be needed for swimming sessions.
  • The SSI role may vary based on the number of children at camp, and Central Office will communicate any relevant changes directly.
  • This list is not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake various tasks as needed by your evolving role within the organization and its overall objectives.
