Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Addiction Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will provide one-on-one drug and alcohol consultation to patients, as well as individual and group therapy in various settings. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping patients overcome addiction and achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health needs and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to support patients' recovery.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure comprehensive care and address any behavioral health needs.
  • Develop and implement crisis intervention plans to address patients' immediate needs.
  • Assign patients to special programs or placements to meet their health needs and legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation in accordance with facility policies.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff to ensure seamless treatment planning and patient goals.
  • Support family members in understanding their role in the recovery process and provide guidance on coping and family-related issues.
  • Modify treatment programs as necessary based on observations and patient progress.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or public health.
  • Current license or certificate in addictions/substance abuse counseling in the state of assignment.
  • Experience in behavioral health guidelines, including assessments, individual and group therapy, and clinical management of patients with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues.
  • Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
