GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:


Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Head of iCELS Simulation Initiative is tasked with overseeing staff organization and management, formulating budget strategies, and analyzing ongoing activities within the Simulation Initiative while ensuring adherence to administrative protocols.

This role encompasses the comprehensive strategic and operational management of the Simulation Initiative, which includes the creation, enhancement, and promotion of programs and initiatives that benefit both UMass Chan and external stakeholders.

As part of these responsibilities, the Head of iCELS Simulation Initiative will formulate and implement business plans for the Simulation Initiative and oversee resource management.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer daily operations of the Simulation Initiative, including educational activities, research, and innovation.
Develop innovative business avenues to enhance impact, resource allocation, and expertise.

Prepare and manage the budget for the simulation initiative, covering labor, operational, and capital expenditures to ensure efficient workflow and quality control.

Provide updates and represent the department in both internal and external meetings, as well as at regional and national conferences.
Supervise administrative personnel and facilitate team development and training.

Lead efforts within the Simulation Initiative to support accreditation processes and strategic planning, prioritizing resources to align with the center's mission and vision.

Identify areas for enhancement and innovation in the Simulation Initiative's curriculum, instructional technologies, and operational frameworks.
Ensure the security and integrity of Simulation Initiative facilities, equipment, and supplies while optimizing their availability for educational purposes.
Safeguard the confidentiality and security of Simulation Initiative data in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Collaborate with faculty to explore opportunities for completing, presenting, and publishing findings from Simulation Initiative research and quality improvement projects.
Engage in outreach initiatives, including conducting facility tours and participating in public relations and community engagement activities.
Formulate and enforce policies, procedures, and practice standards that align with the educational objectives of the Center.
Perform additional responsibilities as necessary.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in business, education, healthcare, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
7+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 3 years in leadership and management roles (people and projects) within complex organizations
Proven experience in strategic planning and project management.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills necessary for interaction with faculty and staff across all levels.
Experience in reporting and quality monitoring for institutional accreditation purposes
Proficiency in budget development, management, and execution, including grant budget oversight.
Advanced proficiency in computer applications, particularly the Microsoft Office suite.
Demonstrated experience in business development with a focus on maximizing margins while adhering to mission requirements.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, evidenced by the preparation of presentations, proposals, reports, and confidential memoranda.

Ability to manage complex operational priorities, utilizing data systems to inform decision-making.

Capacity to exercise diplomacy, establish effective working relationships, and maintain professionalism in interactions with faculty and staff.

Willingness to work on campus and travel to off-site locations.
