Position Overview:

The Automotive Condition Evaluator is tasked with providing outstanding customer service by precisely gathering, documenting, and relaying information regarding customer appraisals to Buyers, Senior Buyers, and Purchasing Managers for thorough analysis. This role also involves assisting with customer transfers, executing lot merchandising tasks, securing vehicles, and supporting the Merchandising team with various daily operations as required.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed vehicle condition evaluations by collecting, documenting, and communicating all necessary information (including cosmetic and specific mechanical conditions, options, etc.) regarding customer appraisals for analysis by Buyers or Purchasing Managers.
  • Ensure accurate optioning of vehicles during assessments and maintain CarMax inventory.
  • Conduct quality imaging of Retail and Wholesale vehicles for online platforms.
  • Complete vehicle security processes, including verifying appraisal entry information for any inconsistencies.
  • Carry out vehicle walkarounds, ensuring timely and accurate communication of information.
  • Support the Merchandising Department in maintaining inventory and facilitating customer transfers.
  • Conduct final condition verifications on inventory acquired through online customer channels.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of wholesale auctions.
  • Collaborate with Inventory and Sales Departments for lot merchandising as needed.
  • Contribute to various projects and office tasks within the Merchandising Department.
  • Assist in onboarding new team members.
  • Independently complete assigned tasks and follow up upon completion.

Job Requirements:
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and collaborate with other departments to create memorable customer experiences.
  • Ability to adhere to detailed, standardized processes for task completion.
  • Read, interpret, and accurately transcribe data to maintain precise records.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
  • Work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment across various departments.
  • Successfully complete all required training.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Working Environment:
  • Position requires walking, bending, kneeling, or standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors or in varying weather conditions for several hours.
  • Flexible work hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
