About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Systems Engineer III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing various spaceflight systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, and repair structural and mechanical systems hardware.
  • Support integration activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to analyze pressurized systems and primary/secondary structures.
  • Identify and resolve roadblocks to facilitate integration tasks and ensure timely project delivery.
  • Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information to support hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, test, and operations.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
Requirements
  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 5+ years of recent experience designing aerospace or equivalent type mechanical system elements within aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles.
  • Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools.
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and knowledge of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components.
  • Confirmed understanding of materials and treatments.
  • Ability to work independently on rapid development programs and lead at least one multi-person development project.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in primary flight control actuator design, primary structures design, aerospace deployable devices design, aerospace hydraulic system component design, or spacecraft separation systems design.
  • Experience with Creo (Pro-E) and structural FEA using ANSYS, NASTRAN, or similar tools.
