Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at St. John Fisher University. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing financial analysis and reporting support to various stakeholders across the university.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting support to grant principal investigators, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local grantor agency requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date on current changes and regulatory requirements, determining their applicability to proposed grant expenditures.
  • Assist in pre-award grant support, including review of RFPs, grant applications, budget preparation, and financial approval.
  • Host financial meetings throughout the grant award life cycle, collaborating with Offices of Sponsored Programs and Foundation Relations to design and monitor project costing and budget tracking.
  • Provide post-award support for grant-related activities, including gathering documents, securing institutional approvals, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Perform real-time data analysis and evaluation of grant award expenditures to ensure allowability in accordance with grantor rules.
  • Calculate and negotiate the University's indirect cost rate with the Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Calculate complex indirect cost allocations and record costs out of university operating funds and charge the grant award, as appropriate.
  • Actively monitor awards and sub-recipient agreements, liaising with Offices of Sponsored Programs and Foundation Relations for compliance with grant award specifications and required documentation.
  • Calculate and prepare timely cash drawdowns from grantor agencies for cash reimbursement to the university.
  • Complete accurate and timely detailed expenditure and other financial regulatory reports as provided and required by grantor agencies.
  • Assist in maintaining the university's institutional profile for all external grant portals.
  • Close-out grant awards with cumulative financial and compliance analysis for the entire grant award life cycle.
  • Assist in creating grant-related support for annual audit, acting as liaison with the university's external auditors, and providing support with regard to grant-related audit procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required or with two to three years related experience preferably in a not-for-profit or higher education environment.
  • CPA or MBA preferred OR equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
  • Previous Banner applications experience (or another enterprise system) preferred and strong PC-based computer skills, including advanced knowledge of spreadsheet products required.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position in an office environment.
