Position Overview:
As a Clinical Charge Nurse, you will oversee daily operations and allocate responsibilities within the unit during your scheduled shift. In your role as an Educator, you will serve as a vital resource for newly hired staff, showcasing your clinical knowledge and skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily activities and manage work distribution in the designated area during your shift.
- Act as a mentor and professional guide for new employees, demonstrating clinical proficiency and expertise.
- Engage in direct patient care activities approximately 80% of the time, while dedicating 20% to Charge Nurse and educational responsibilities.
- Adapt to varying roles between Charge Nurse and Educator based on patient acuity and volume.
- Provide care and services to a diverse patient population, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Prioritize tasks effectively according to the circumstances, balancing direct patient care, management, and educational duties throughout your shift.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Proven proficiency in relevant skills within the designated area during the probationary period.
- Ability to fulfill Charge Nurse responsibilities and demonstrate clinical expertise.
- Completion of a management training course prior to appointment or within six months of employment.
- Minimum of two years of RN experience or one year as an RN combined with two years as an LPN.
- At least two years of recent experience in the specialty area.
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Specialized Experience:
- Two years of experience in critical care or surgical patient treatment, or in radiology nursing.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia interpretation is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in the area of specialty.
