Position Summary:

The role involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems associated with steam and electric utility generation within our facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effective communication regarding the operational status and requirements of your designated area with the RED-Rochester supervisory team and operational staff.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to establish preventive maintenance schedules aimed at maximizing equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Assist in formulating corrective maintenance strategies to ensure timely repairs and uphold system redundancy for optimal emergency readiness.
  • Coordinate maintenance shutdowns, both routine and emergency, ensuring all stakeholders are informed.
  • Execute all planned maintenance tasks and accurately document actions in the RED-Rochester work order management system.
  • Supervise and lead any equipment overhaul or modernization projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Oversee external contractors working in your area to ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality workmanship.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental plans relevant to your work area.
  • Participate in team efforts during major emergencies or significant operational failures.
  • Utilize various tools and equipment, including hoists, cranes, and lathes, to perform job functions.

Equipment Expertise:

  • Experience with pumps of varying sizes, including low-pressure and high-pressure systems.
  • Familiarity with multi-stage air compressors and steam turbines.
  • Knowledge of auxiliary systems such as lubrication, fuel management, and cooling systems.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in utilities mechanics or a related field.
  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must obtain necessary safety operator licenses within the specified timeframe.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification required; OSHA 30-hour certification to be obtained within 12 months.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Work Environment:

  • Industrial and power plant settings with potential exposure to various environmental conditions.
  • Physical demands include lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
