Job Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Specialist in our Solar group to oversee the CA/SW region. The successful candidate will support and interact with staff at all levels, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities
  • Implement Mortenson's environmental program for simple to moderately complex project sites and ensure environmental compliance of construction activities.
  • Develop site-specific environmental plans and activities, review environmental submittals, and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings.
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, develop and lead environmental orientation and training programs, and lead onsite best management practices for environmental management.
  • Monitor implementation of environmental mitigation measures, conduct work site environmental inspections, and collaborate with customers on regulatory reporting and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain operational knowledge of environmental issues in construction, interface with customer's environmental personnel, environmental consultants, regulatory representatives, etc., and assist in the development of company-wide Environmental Management supportive programs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of four years of related experience.
  • Significant experience with two or more of the following areas: erosion prevention and sediment control, stormwater pollution prevention plans, spill prevention controls and countermeasures, wetlands, endangered species.
  • Strong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
  • A well-organized and self-directed individual who is collaborative and a team player.
  • Ability to interact with consultants and governmental agencies.
  • Ability to use PC, tablets, and widely used software packages, e.g., spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (MS Word).
  • Current driver's license.
  • Able to travel up to 50%.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in geology, environmental management, environmental science, biology, or related field.
