The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating Cat Scan equipment to take radiographs of various body parts, assisting physicians in detecting foreign bodies and diagnosing diseases and injuries.
Key Responsibilities- Assist clinical providers with procedures, treatments, and therapies using sterile techniques and prepare equipment.
- Position patients for Cat Scan exams and adjust imaging equipment for each examination.
- Properly image exams and archive to PACS, utilizing Radiology Information Systems for accurate patient records.
- Track and secure supplies according to departmental guidelines and troubleshoot Radiology Imaging equipment/systems as needed.
- Assist in orienting and training new staff and students and serve as a resource person and professional role model.
- Ensure the working environment complies with regulatory agencies and may be assigned to other imaging modalities as needed.
One year of experience in a hospital x-ray department or private radiological laboratory is required, with two years preferred. A graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology Certification Program or Associate's Degree is required, with a valid license and current registration issued by the New York State Department of Health as a Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiography. Certification by the New York State Department of Health for Intravascular contrast media injection is also required within six months of hire.
