Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for a variety of functions related to the upkeep, repair, and diagnostic assessment of electrical power and control systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The technician will engage in tasks that support the maintenance of electrical systems across the facility. This encompasses:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing low and medium voltage (LV/MV) motors and their control systems.
  • Conducting repairs on LV/MV switchgear.
  • Performing PLC troubleshooting and programming.
  • Executing instrumentation repairs.

Additionally, the technician will assist in preventative maintenance and repairs on electrical apparatus.

Collaboration with contractor personnel is expected, alongside proposing initiatives aimed at cost reduction and productivity enhancement. The technician should take independent actions to address issues when necessary.

Participation in both formal and on-the-job training programs is essential for the acquisition and expansion of both technical and non-technical skills, including cross-training opportunities.

Regular interaction with Process Area members is required to collect or relay information and resolve issues.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Adherence to all safety protocols is crucial, including identifying safety hazards and implementing corrective measures. The technician must comply with environmental policies and maintain a tidy work environment.

Engagement in team meetings is expected, and the technician may be assigned to perform tasks in other roles as needed.

Flexibility in working hours, including rotating shifts or on-call schedules, is a requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or GED is required; an Associate's or Technical Degree is preferred.

Experience: 2-4 years of relevant work experience or equivalent educational background may be considered.

Travel: Minimal travel requirements, less than 10%.

Additional Skills:

A foundational understanding of electrical theory, particularly electrical safety, is necessary. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to promoting and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work settings.

Successful candidates will comply with all safety protocols and utilize Holcim-approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required.
