Job Description

As a Senior RFIC Design Engineer at Apple, you will be part of a world-class vertically integrated engineering team responsible for designing state-of-the-art highly energy-efficient CMOS radios, from RF to bits.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop analog and RFIC blocks for wireless SoC radios.
  • Oversee the layout and verification of designs to ensure successful tapeout.
  • Test and debug designs to identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with the system group to define requirements for RF and baseband blocks.
  • Work with the technology team to understand the capabilities and limits of the technology node.
Requirements
  • BS and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of RFIC circuit design.
  • Direct tape-out experience with RF front-end circuits, PA, LNA, mixer, oscillator, PLL, LO, VGA, filter, ADC/DAC, TIA, or other baseband analog blocks in deep sub-micron CMOS technology.
  • Deep understanding of analog design concepts, including noise, linearity, mismatch, stability, and other analog impairments.
  • Knowledge of CMOS device physics, RF device modeling, device noise parameters, inductor modeling, and circuit layout for optimum RF performance.
  • Insights into packaging effects, supply isolation, and high-frequency ESD strategies.
  • Familiarity with various RF transceiver architectures and their trade-offs, as well as calibration methods used.
  • Exposure to Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre RF, EMX, and similar tools.
  • Understanding of system specifications and ability to work with system architects to translate system requirements into circuit requirements at the IC level.
  • Experience in Si characterization and debug.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education and experience in RFIC design and development.
  • Additional requirements may include experience with specific tools, technologies, or methodologies.
