CDL Yard Jockey Job Description

US Foods is seeking a skilled CDL Yard Jockey to join our team. As a CDL Yard Jockey, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer combination to transport goods and materials within our distribution center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a tractor-trailer combination to transport goods and materials within the distribution center.
  • Communicate with dispatchers and warehouse supervisors to coordinate truck and trailer assignments.
  • Load, unload, and merge loads between environments.
  • Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers.
  • Set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and empty pallets.
  • Place backhauls in correct door to be unloaded by warehouse.
  • Ensure all equipment is paired and ready for next day's deliveries.
  • Work with mechanics nightly.
  • Attend all required company meetings.
Requirements:
  • Valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.
  • Minimum of six months commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language.
