Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Manager - Customer Care Advocate is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring that all essential functions are adequately maintained. This includes supervising support staff, implementing staff schedules, and maintaining customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and guidance for all support staff working in the pharmacy department.
  • Implement staff schedules for the pharmacy location.
  • Serve as primary customer care advocate ensuring that customer service standards are maintained by all pharmacy personnel.
  • Support company safety standards and communicate any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work.
  • Ensure completion/maintenance of records and reports as required by regulation or the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Operations Manager, and/or corporate policy and procedures.
  • Support training of all personnel at the pharmacy location and recommend interventions for training to Store Manager and/or Pharmacy Manager.
  • Work closely with Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacy Operations Manager to develop and implement operational enhancement and efficiency enhancement programs and practices for the pharmacy location.
  • Monitor adjudication of third-party claims, conducting follow-up as necessary to ensure claims are paid in a timely fashion.
  • Identify problems in third-party systems and report them to the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacy Operations Manager.
  • Ensure that all company policies, procedures, and practices are maintained and followed by all pharmacy personnel.
  • Monitor pharmacy inventory and provide oversight of inventory purchasing and return systems.
  • Ensure that the pharmacy maintains compliance with all state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.

Performance Requirements:

  • Proper and accurate dispensing of prescription medication.
  • Operation of claim adjudication system.
  • Patient counseling and health advocacy.
  • Liaison services with patients, prescribers, and other individuals/organizations having business with or requesting pharmacy services.
  • Make clinical decisions on each prescription presented, including drug-drug interactions, drug-disease-state checks, allergy profiles, dosage, strength, and quantity checks.
  • Able to work for up to 12 hours without assistance and spend long periods standing on a concrete floor with a cushioned mat.
  • Able to reach and retrieve medication from floor level to overhead level.
  • Stocking of pharmacy requires the employee to bend, stretch, and reach, including the ability to lift weights of up to 25lbs.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and patients.
  • Counsel patients on the proper use of medications, OTC products, durable medical equipment, and other healthcare needs, including possible side effects and precautions.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy with a Bachelor's or advanced degree.
  • Currently maintains a license in the state of practice as a Pharmacist.
  • Demonstrated competence in effective communication skills and customer relations, with an unrestricted ability to fill Medicaid and Medicare prescriptions.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to communicate effectively with customers, associates, other health professionals, and the community at large.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule consistent with a stimulating retail environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and provide direction to associates.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

Some minor lifting (less than 25lbs) is required, and the employee will be required to stand for extended periods during working hours.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
  • Prior retail pharmacy experience.
  • Prior management/supervisory experience.
