Job Summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a skilled Environmental Remediation Specialist to join our team in San Antonio, TX.

About the Role

This position involves working in the field to perform tasks associated with hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by following policies, processes, and acting safely at all times.
  • Engage in physically demanding labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment, handle various hand tools, and powered industrial tools while working with vibration-producing tools.
  • Wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection in multiple combinations.
  • Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work in atmospheres with potential exposure to chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive.
  • Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearance.
  • Work at elevations, including working from ladders and scaffolding.
  • Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding, and into and out of trucks, tanks, and containers.
  • Work extended periods (more than 8 hours).
  • Attend compliance and safety update meetings.
  • Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary.
  • Follow local, state, and federal regulations and rules.
  • Safely operate vehicles according to U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Observe corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to perform physical functions per Key Responsibilities.
  • Able to work on-call for emergency response, occasionally working weekends and holidays, with situations extending up to 12-24 hours.
  • Must complete a background check, drug test, and physical.
  • Meet OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience, plus comprehensive health benefits coverage after 30 days of full-time employment, including 401(k) with company match.
