Job Description

As a key member of our Meat Department team, you will be responsible for providing overall leadership and guidance to our team members. This role requires a strong understanding of our store's operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. You will be accountable for team member hiring, development, corrective actions, and separations. Additionally, you will ensure that our team members provide exceptional customer service at all times, in line with our company's values and goals. Key responsibilities include holding team members accountable for delivering outstanding customer service, making hiring and separation decisions in partnership with store leadership, monitoring and achieving sales, purchasing, and labor targets, and establishing and maintaining collaborative and productive working relationships with departmental and store leadership. You will also be responsible for managing ordering and inventory to achieve targeted contribution to profit margin, establishing and maintaining positive and productive vendor relationships, and fostering a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale. Furthermore, you will maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, direct team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers, and respond promptly to customer needs and questions. You will be required to communicate and maintain team member safety and security standards, provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations, and consistently communicate and model our company's vision and goals. Key skills required for this role include advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management, as well as excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills. You will also be required to have thorough product knowledge, advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures, and proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications. In addition to your skills and knowledge, you should have at least 24 months of retail experience, including 12 months of team leadership experience. Physical demands of this role include the ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday, and work in a wet and cold environment. You will also be required to handle knives and other cutting equipment, work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, and use tools and equipment such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
