About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Power Systems Engineer to join our team at Leidos, providing support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Des Plaines, IL.

As an Electrical Power Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing electrical systems for various FAA buildings and structures. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of these facilities.

Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Design and plan electrical systems for FAA buildings and structures, including standby engine generator and uninterruptible power systems (UPS).">
  • Conduct on-site surveys to develop detailed designs and reports, including sketches and specifications.">
  • Test and analyze power systems, participating in construction inspections and final inspections.">
  • Collaborate with engineering staff and other personnel to resolve problems with design or implementation.">
  • Coordinate design components with a multi-disciplinary team, generating drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics as required.">
  • Prepare construction drawings, site-specific specifications, and contract documents, along with independent cost estimates.">
  • Perform project management tasks, including safety plans, sequence of work, and cutover plans.">
  • Generate and coordinate Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC), communication plans, and project risk registers to meet Operational Risk Management (ORM) requirements.">
  • Coordinate and complete Work Permits for potential lead and asbestos impacts during construction.">
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction project activities to meet milestones and deadlines, working directly with stakeholders and contractors.">
  • Manage multiple projects towards successful on-time completion.">
  • Perform internal design reviews of FAA-designed power projects.">

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college/university.">
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in designing electrical distribution systems for commercial, industrial, and/or government facilities.">
  • Experience with power system analysis software, such as EDSA Power Analytics and SKM Systems Analysis Power Tools.">
  • Knowledge of arc flash studies and proficiency with AUTOCAD.">
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.">
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.">

Compensation and Benefits

">

The estimated salary range for this position is $81,250 - $146,875, depending on qualifications and experience. Leidos offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plans, and paid time off.
