Job Title:

Senior Learning Specialist

Job Summary:

The Senior Learning Specialist in the Student-Athlete Support Services Office provides a supportive learning environment for Ohio State's world-class student-athletes who are balancing the rigors of full-time academics with elite athletic training and competition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry a caseload of student-athletes and work collaboratively to develop, implement, and monitor individualized academic support plans.
  • Teach learning strategies and assist with tutoring needs, as well as counsel students with professional, academic, and/or personal questions and concerns.
  • Identify learning disabilities and coordinate accommodations and services.
  • Act as a resource for student-athletes, staff, tutors, coaches, families, and partner departments across the university.
  • Maintain compliance and confidentiality, adhering to university and Big Ten Conference policies, NCAA guidelines, FERPA guidelines, ADA requirements, and handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise, specifically with students from diverse backgrounds and a variety of learning needs.
  • Familiarity with NCAA Rules, eligibility, academic advising, and Big Ten Conference Rules.
