Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Police Officer Recruit/Lateral to join our team at the City of Clovis. As a sworn law enforcement officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and providing excellent customer service to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas by car, foot, or motorcycle to prevent and detect crime
  • Respond to calls for service, including emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Conduct initial and follow-up investigations to gather facts and evidence
  • Work closely with the community and other City departments to promote community policing and public safety
  • Enforce laws and regulations, including traffic laws and ordinances
  • Make arrests, issue citations, and testify in court as needed
  • Administer first aid and provide emergency medical assistance when necessary
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest law enforcement techniques and procedures
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have a valid work visa
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid California Driver's License and a good driving record
  • Must have a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certificate or be eligible to obtain one
  • Must have two years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer (for Lateral applicants)
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to stress, danger, and uncertainty. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to lift, carry, and push objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
