Community Center Attendant-Part Time

**Job Summary:**
This position is responsible for setting up and tearing down for events, including moving tables and chairs, laying dance floors, and assembling stage equipment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for opening and closing the facility, addressing the needs of clients and vendors, and performing custodial tasks such as emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, mopping, waxing and buffing floors, washing windows, dusting furniture, cleaning vents, fans, and walls, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and kitchen facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unlocks and locks the Community Center for groups using the building.
- Acts as a receptionist for the Center.
- Assists in preparing and maintaining leasing contracts and documents for all events scheduled.
- Performs light security services.
- Keeps the floors clean by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
- Gathers trash, replaces liners, and empties it in the main dumpsters.
- Cleans restrooms, offices, hallways, lobbies, and fills dispensers.
- Dusts and/or polishes furniture, blinds, and equipment.
- Scrubs surfaces clean.
- Maintains an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies.
- Sets up and tears down tables and chairs for the facility.
- Provides basic information about services and programs.
- Ensures a clean and neat appearance of the Center at all times and prepares rooms for programs.
- Reports facility maintenance issues upon detection to the immediate supervisor.

- Ability to understand and operate the facilities' technical and operating systems.

- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
- Ability to work with people of all backgrounds.
- Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
- Ability to move tables, chairs, and furniture (for set up of events) and perform manual labor.
- Ability to perform cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include walking, standing, bending, or stooping for extended periods of time.
- Frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, balancing, use of hands and feet.
- Ability to function in an environment that may occasionally have strong odors, dust, and alcoholic beverages.
- Operates various types of equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and extractors to clean carpet, etc. Checks, cleans, and services equipment.
- Uses appropriate chemicals and/or cleaners safely and productively according to instructions to ensure personal and public safety.
- Lifting and carrying moderate pounds and/or in some instances, heavy pounds and occasionally heavier. Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED, or
- Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
- Two years of increasingly responsible experience in leasing, renting, and party planning and event planning and scheduling and performing maintenance work involving the skilled operation of moderate to light construction and maintenance.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.

- A combination of education and experience that indicates a level of skill and knowledge necessary to fulfill the duties of this position may be considered instead of the education and experience requirements listed above.
