Position Overview:

This position will be responsible for providing support to all injection molding operations, reducing scrap and set-up times, optimizing cycle times, and performing validations related to materials, presses, and molds as necessary with a focus on continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all engineering activities related to Argon's injection molding process.
  • Establish a robust process window for all injection molded components using Scientific Molding techniques along with Design of Experiments (DOE's).
  • Troubleshoot molding / manufacturing processes to mitigate production defects.
  • Champion process improvement/optimization projects.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for cost savings.
  • Perform process and mold qualifications, validations, etc.
  • Evaluate and select various engineered materials, execute material consolidation projects.
  • Implement safety, productivity, and yield improvements.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation.
  • Participate in projects related to New Product Introduction.
  • Develop process for SMED, design, execute, and train set-up operators.
  • Use structured project management process to execute projects on time.
  • Lead complex projects and maintain project timeline and budget.
  • Liaison between Molding, Tooling, R&D, and Quality Engineering teams.
  • Travel up to 5%.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Bachelor's in Chemical or Plastics Engineering preferred.
  • At least 4 years of injection molding experience in the medical device industry or a clean room required.
  • Excellent knowledge of injection molding presses (hydraulic and electric), molds, mold design, and other related processing equipment such as hoppers/loaders, blenders, dryers, sprue pickers, hot runner systems, etc.
  • Experience working with common molding grade plastics such as Polypropylene, Polycarbonate, ABS, Nylon, etc.
  • Ability to communicate with, as well as train and develop process technicians.
  • Knowledge of general mold maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience in validation of presses and molds (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Experience in Extrusion of PVC, HDPE, and PU is a plus.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills and scientific techniques in problem-solving and development.
