Introduction

At Mission Hospital's K9B unit, we are dedicated to providing outstanding care to our diverse medical-surgical patient population. In this essential role, you will find a nurturing environment that values your expertise and fosters your professional development.

About the K9B Unit:

  • The K9B unit is a critical center for medical-surgical care, accommodating patients from emergency and step-down units, and delivering comprehensive treatment for a range of medical and surgical conditions.

Unit Culture:

  • We promote a collaborative team culture, ensuring that every member feels appreciated and supported.
  • Open communication and a familial atmosphere are prioritized, allowing for personal needs and unforeseen circumstances.

Nurse Staffing and Support:

  • During the day, the nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6, supplemented by a dedicated charge nurse.
  • At night, the nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:5-6, ensuring that each patient's needs are adequately addressed.
  • Clinical Nurse Coordinators are available for guidance and support, maintaining a manageable patient load to enhance unit support.
  • Our team is supported by Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Job Summary and Qualifications
  • Leads the delivery of professional nursing care, ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients.
  • Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and education for patients and their families.
  • Implements medically prescribed interventions.
Qualifications:
  • Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN or advanced degree program with completion within 5 years of hire date into RN position. Exemptions may apply for RNs with 10 years or more of experience.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s in Nursing.
  • Required License/Certifications: Current licensure as a registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC license may apply; confirmation with NCBON is recommended. Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider.
  • Preferred License/Certifications: National Certification in specialty area.
  • Required Experience: Minimum of one year nursing experience.
