About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Air Quality Registration and Compliance Specialist to join our team at the Washington State Department of Ecology. As a key member of our Air Quality Program, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with state regulations and protecting the environment for current and future generations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct scheduled and unannounced on-site compliance inspections to determine compliance with permits and air quality regulations.
  • Manage the registration database and conduct emissions inventories to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Prepare and distribute annual emissions reports and bills to regulated facilities.
  • Collect annual fees for over 120 air pollution sources and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare written documentation of inspections, observations, and recommendations for enforcement actions.
  • Compile data and draft recommendations for enforcement actions to ensure compliance with regulations.
Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and understand environmental regulations and complex technical documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a diverse set of clients and coworkers.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and accurate data and records within timelines and using required procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in an ever-changing fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical processes.
