THOR Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Mid-Level Naval Architect to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG)\'s Ship Design Team in Baltimore, MD.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Naval Architect with experience in ship design, engineering, and project management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in U.S. Federal or commercial shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and documentation for ship feasibility, concept, preliminary and contract design, integration, stability analysis, hydrodynamic and seakeeping properties.
  • Evaluate systems and equipment, develop and analyze requirements, perform studies and documentation relating to hull form, stability, weights, structures, and design.
  • Develop system documentation and ship specifications for surface assets and boats, perform structural analysis and design using ISO and class society standards.
  • Conduct analyses on stability studies, assist with inclining experiments and weight and stability tests, and oversee design development.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Naval Architecture or another relevant technical, engineering, or marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in Naval Architecture.
  • Experience related to U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs preferred.
  • Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs preferred.
  • Experience with computer applications relating to naval architecture and ship design.
  • Experience with corrosion principles of metals for surface assets and boats.
  • Familiarity with USN, USCG, IACS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Proficient with common productivity software.
  • Strong communications skills.
