BMS Patient Services Coordinator

The Patient Services Specialist is responsible for maintaining a smooth office environment, serving as a liaison between patients, clinical staff, and physicians/providers. This role requires professionalism and excellent communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities- Serves patients by greeting them, answering routine questions, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records and accounts.
- Welcomes patient and visitors in person or via phone, taking detailed messages as needed.
- Utilizes practice management software, patient portal, and appointment reminder systems to manage scheduling, interact with patients and providers, and update patient records.
- Assists patients in completing insurance forms and updating patient records.
- Schedules appointments and optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization.
- Notifies providers and clinical staff of patients' arrivals and reminds them of service delays.
- Anticipates patients' anxieties and maintains a calm, orderly reception area.
- Responds to emergencies and solves problems to minimize patient stress.
- Collects, sorts, distributes, and prepares mail, messages, and faxes.
- Maintains patient accounting by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information, collecting patient charges, and expediting third-party claims.
- Schedules appointments, lab tests, and medical tests as needed.
- Obtains prior authorization for medication, supplies, and medical equipment.
- Maintains business office inventory and equipment by monitoring stock levels, anticipating needed supplies, and verifying receipt and delivery of orders.
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed and assigned.
