Aerospace Sheet Metal Assembly Technician Job Description

Vale Group is partnering with a leading aerospace and defense company to find an experienced Aerospace Sheet Metal Assembly Technician to work on-site in Edgewood, NY.

Job Summary

This role is critical in performing various assembly, installation, and maintenance operations, essential for the fabrication of aircraft lots, lines, and major sheet metal assemblies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform structural assembly and riveting operations involving details, sheet metal parts, extrusions, castings, and forgings in the fabrication of minor, sub, and major assemblies.
  • Conduct fitting and rework operations to meet production standards.
  • Utilize production jigs and fixtures for assembly operations where accessibility is manageable.
  • Employ tools like drills, squeezers, riveters, shears, files, taps, reams, and drills to close tolerances.
  • Check work for completeness and accuracy; maintain Quality, Schedule, and Cost standards.
  • Work from Blueprints, Work Instructions, and Engineering Specifications.
  • Teach and mentor less experienced mechanics.
  • Notify supervision of any issues with equipment, materials, and product quality.
  • Adhere to all applicable Environmental, Safety, Health, FOD, and Operations Procedures/Directives.
  • Perform additional duties as required, including sealant application and production accountability tasks.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of minimum experience in a similar role as a sheet metal assembly technician, preferably in an aerospace/aviation manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle objects weighing 25-30 pounds.
  • Must be capable of performing physical activities such as lifting, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, grasping, holding, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
