About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bilingual Youth Care Worker to join our team at the Children's Refugee Shelter, in collaboration with Teneo Linguistics Company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Direct Care Services: Ensure the well-being, safety, and emotional health of each child.
  • Supervise Daily Routines: Maintain a structured and nurturing environment, promoting a sense of stability and security.
  • Advocate for Children: Voice their needs, concerns, and aspirations, fostering a sense of empowerment and agency.
  • Education and Life Skills: Guide children in essential tasks, such as personal hygiene, cleanliness, and organization, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Engage with Youth: Participate in and facilitate group activities, recreational sessions, and educational programs, promoting socialization and community building.
  • Ensure Safety and Intervention: Continuously monitor the environment, intervening positively in conflicts or issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Team: Share insights and feedback to enhance care provision, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-high school experience working directly with youth, preferably in care or educational settings.
  • Language Proficiency: Bilingual proficiency, especially in Spanish.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine affinity for working with children.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations with patience, understanding, and empathy.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of child development and trauma-informed care will be an advantage.
