Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and determine patients' existing insurance coverage and eligibility for federal and state assistance programs.
- Prepare and submit applications, ensuring timely follow-up with patients and government agency representatives to guarantee the efficient processing of all required documentation.
- Accurately collect and input insurance, demographic, and eligibility data into the system, maintaining comprehensive progress notes in patient files.
- Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle and Billing teams as necessary.
- Stay informed about local community resources and support services.
- Engage in ongoing training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to promote office efficiency, assisting with various administrative tasks as needed.
- Support management by providing historical data for forecasting purposes.

- Possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain basic accounting knowledge and accounts receivable understanding.

- Understand confidentiality protocols and information release procedures.
- Work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.

- Demonstrate willingness to assist in collecting payments from patients.
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Preferred: Associate degree.
- At least one year of relevant experience in the healthcare sector.
- Relevant education may be considered in lieu of experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of NC Medicaid programs and eligibility criteria.
- Ability to effectively communicate and respond to the diverse needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Self-motivated, analytical, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking.
This position requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, kneeling, talking, and lifting.
Work Environment:
This role is performed in a climate-controlled office setting, involving direct interaction with patients and staff both in person and via phone.
