Key Responsibilities
  • Screen and evaluate patients for existing insurance coverage and federal and state assistance programs.
  • Complete and file applications, maintaining proper follow-up with patients and government agency caseworkers to ensure timely processing and completion of all mandated applications and accompanying documentation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of insurance, demographic, and eligibility information into the system, documenting progress notes to the patient's file.
  • Collaborate with the organization's Revenue Cycle & Billing teams as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of local community resources.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs to stay up-to-date on Medicaid programs and eligibility requirements.
Requirements
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of related experience in healthcare.
  • Relevant education may substitute experience requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough education or training on NC Medicaid programs and eligibility.
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively with patients of diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated, analytical, quick learner, organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
